Wedding

September 18, 2006

Almost a year later, we're finally getting our wedding pictures online. If you just want the short version, here's our album pictures. If you want to see all the reception pictures, etc. we have all the pictures the photographer took broken down into rehearsal, pre-ceremony, ceremony, formal, reception part 1 and reception part 2. Then we have some pictures from our honeymoon cruise. Enjoy!

October 30, 2005

We made it through the wedding! I woke up on the morning of the wedding and looked outside to see if it had cleared up because it had been raining for the past 2 days. I was staying at the hotel and the first thing I saw was a storm grate that normally drains any rainwater. This grate had water flowing back OUT of it. That's when I made the decision that I was getting married that day no matter how many people were there to watch and that I probably shouldn't look out the window anymore. A few people had to take a maze of detours (like Shane's dad and John, one of the groomsmen) but everyone made it there safely. The wedding started a little bit late because I was still trying to get my dress ready. I knew it was wrinkled, and we were going to steam it right before I put it on. Unfortunately, the steamer didn't want to cooperate. So Michelle (thank you!) ran to a store and bought an iron, but it still took a while to get it all straightened out because we didn't want to scorch the dress. Honestly, the wedding and reception went by way too quickly. I feel bad because I didn't really get a chance to talk to everyone. To all of you that came to the wedding -- thank you for being there and sharing in our special day. It was perfect!

I didn't think there was much left to do, but a lot of little stuff keeps popping up. We've been working on our favors, finishing up the decorations, and my dress is being fitted. We got some bad news the other day but I didn't really freak out (I was proud of myself). We can't have the rehearsal on site on Friday night like we were planning because someone else has reserved it. So we're hoping that maybe we can do a run through on Thursday night even though everyone may not be able to make it. We sent out our invitations and I've been really impatient about getting the replies back. A lot of people have said "Well you know I'm going to be there!" Not good enough people, I want the cards so I can put them in an album! I can not believe that we only have about a month and a half left. I'm really looking forward to that honeymoon...

July 10, 2005

OK, I'm ready to get married now! It seems like we've done a lot in the past couple of months. We've picked out tuxes, booked our honeymoon cruise, and finally got in touch with the parents of our ring bearer and flower girl. I've collected most of the addresses I need so that I can start on the invitations. It just hit us the other day that we only have a few months until we'll be married. I guess I really should get my dress altered soon. Everyone keeps asking me if I'm getting nervous yet -- I think they're waiting for me to turn into Bridezilla. I'm not there yet, but I'm definitely having a hard time delegating. I have to be in charge of everything. Except for the bridal shower and bachelorette party -- thank God they'll be coming up soon!

April 19, 2005

I thought that even if I didn't add any pictures to the website, I could at least update what was going on with the wedding. I got all the girls together on one day to go order dresses (except Tammi, I gave her a break since she's in Florida). The woman that helped us order them was a little dingy so if the dresses come in right, it will be a miracle. We found a caterer, and they're so much nicer and more helpful than the first caterer we had looked at. Plus cheaper! We have most of the decorations we need, and we have our invitations, announcements, and programs. We had a couple of appointments with florists yesterday, and I think we've decided which one to use. They both killed my dream of blue hydrangeas, but I kind of figured that would happen anyway since they're not in season in October. I was stressing out for a while--now I'm getting more excited. But I'm sure the stress will be back!

January 29, 2005

It's been a really long time since we updated the website, so we've got a little more planning done. Kim and I went down to Myrtle Beach and went to a few more places to look for bridesmaid dresses. Hopefully I can get all the girls together to go order their dresses in the next few weeks. We got a gift certificate for Michael's for Christmas, so I bought most of our centerpiece stuff with that. We went and interviewed with a caterer but the price she sent us through email was double what we originally thought it would be, so we're looking into other places. And we have our photographer/videographer! So if we can just find some food and flowers, we should be set!

November 24, 2004

OK, now it's really official! We already had the place, but now we've actually booked the person that is going to perform the ceremony. Kim and I went bridesmaid dress shopping a couple of weeks ago. Out of over 100 dresses they had there, we picked out about 3 that we liked enough for her to try on. So I think I've decided on one, but I still might look around, just in case. I also bought some stuff to play around with to come up with some centerpieces. Next on the list: flowers and food!

September 17, 2004

Well, I ordered my wedding dress and they told me that it would probably take 3-4 months for it to come in. ONE week later they called and told me that it was ready to be picked up. So now I feel crazy because it's more than a year before the wedding and I already have the dress. Oh, well. We've started looking at bridesmaid dresses and invitations but haven't really decided on anything. Next month I'm going to look at flowers so I can see what will be in season next year. And I'm hoping the weather starts getting cooler!

August 9, 2004

We've finally got our wedding date! We'll be getting married on October 8, 2005. So far, we've booked the place for the ceremony and reception and I chose my dress. Which was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. Yeah, I had to get lots of opinions before I made my decision but I think I knew all along. Only one day of dress shopping! We'll see if all the other planning goes that well.
